A lot of times, people translate mitzvah to mean "a good deed", but it isn't. There are actually 613 mitzvot (the plural of mitzvah) listed in the Tanakh (the Jewish Bible), and not just any good deed counts.
Thankfully for us, Maimonides (aka the Rambam) made a list of all the mitzvot and explained them each in his Sefer HaMitzvot which you can read in its entirety.
It's a lot of text and it's very dense, so if you're not ready for that kind of in depth exploration (I know I'm not there yet), the Jewish Virtual Library has a much more skimmable list of all 613 mitzvot, all in English.
